San Antonio’s economy gets lift in third quarter from jobs, real estate

by admin on December 4, 2012

San Antonio’s regional economy is showing the second best recovery stamina among Texas’ big five metropolitan areas, according to the latest Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Economic Trends Report.

The Alamo City ranked second only to Houston.

The report looks at such economic indicators as sales tax revenues, the job/unemployment ratio, commercial real estate activity, convention and visitor attendance, single-family permits, residential permit valuations and average new home prices.

San Antonio’s economy benefited from growth in jobs, sales tax revenues, an uptick in commercial and industrial activity and an improved housing market.

However, Greater Chamber officials are keeping a close watch on the political climate in Washington, D.C. Greater Chamber officials are hopeful that leaders of both parties can maintain the Bush-era tax cuts for people earning less than $250,000.
